Panaji: With the increase in fuel prices, Kadamba Transport Corporation (KTC) sees hiking rates for bus services.
The proposal for it has been transferred and approved from the government awaited.
“We cannot say that there will be an increase because the proposal has not been approved.
The tariff is being carried out because of the increase in diesel costs,” said the General Manager of the Sanjay Ghate KTC.
KTC has increased its electric bus fare to quote GST as the reason, because where the bus rates for Panaji shuttle service to Margao are currently Rs 50 per commuter.
Rates for KTC diesel vehicles on the same route are Rs 45 per passenger.
The Goa Green Brigade was recently written to the KTC to protest this increase and demanded that bus rates decrease and ensure that prices are equivalent to the level of diesel vehicles.
“The Goa Government must immediately replace the entire diesel bus fleet with Bus E in a bound time and with a warth without delay and ensure that the last mile public transportation is given to residents and dropping rs 5 arbitrary and discriminatory ticket policies,” letter to KTC by KTC Co-founder and coordinator of Goa Green Brigade, Averto Miranda, read.
“There is no discrimination on charges of fees.
GST 5% is being recovered from passengers only on the electric bus,” Ghate said.
