Mangaluru: Raju, a 21-year-old Hanuman Langur in Piliculous Biological Park (PBP), died on Sunday.
He was the first langur taken to the park, said PBP Director H J Bhandar.
He said the strangle was rescued from a bar near Padubidri.
“Since he hangs out near the bar, customers often give him eat alcohol, and he has addicted to it.
In 2005, we received a call from the bar owner who stated that Lutung was dull and unhealthy.
Our team was saved by Lutung and began to treat him.

We began offering him small drinks in small quantities, and stopped completely after his recovery, which took one month.

Viscera has been sent to the laboratory in Bengaluru to ensure the cause of death.
Postmortem was carried out, and the report showed that he died of kidney disease and related liver.
At present, PBP has four Hanuman Langurs.
The average age of Hanuman Langur is 18-20 years, he added.
