Daltonganj: A Tusker has brought a catastrophe in Chandwa Blok District Lingehat by destroying homes in the past few days, thus forced many in Chakla village to delay their marriage during the wedding season.
Tusker has often visited two tribal areas, namely Hraiya and Parouwa.
, in Chakla village mostly at night to record walls and roofs from several houses and destroy plants.
Latehar DC Abu Imran said he had asked the district waste forest officers to look into this matter.
“The affected villagers have sent me photos of their damaged houses.” Imran.ayub Khan, a veteran CPM leader from Chandwa, said the villagers were wake up all night.
“The villagers have been forced to shift their wedding date because of one single elephant,” Khan said.
He only said the village dog who tried to keep residents was safe at night.
“They start barking as soon as they see the elephant approaching,” he said.
Khan added that some Oraon families also arranged the tractor and shifted their rice bags to their relatives.
Chanda Ranger Rakesh Kumar said that Tusker had ruined almost half a dozen houses.
The village population petition affected for compensation has been sent to the forest office, he said.
“One of my forest personnel behind Tusker to drive him away when it suddenly turned and chased him.
To save himself, forest officials jumped into the ditch,” Kumar said.
The villagers also detonated crackers and defeated drum tin to drive him away, but maybe all of this made an angry elephant, scaly kumar.
He said, “Tusker damages the house for rice and the Mahua (local liquor).” Palamu Tiger reserve officials said the elephant did not belong to the reserve and it could get lost to the Chandwa block from the adjoining Chatra District.
