Letter: A group of female students Veer Narmad Gujarat Universitas Selatan (VNSGU) Girls Hostel performed Dharna at the police station Umra demanded action against indecent actions by lovebirds and hooligans who had made road services outside the place to hang out.
The students accused even though some representations of the Hostel and University Authority the problem was still waiting for a solution.
Because of its thick green coverage, road service outside the VNSGU campus has become a favorite place for couples who like to hang out there even though there are street lights.
Most of the road Udhna Magdalla near VNSGU and road services remain low because of thick green cover.
To solve the problem, VNSGU installed 18 LED spotlights on the wall to thwart the lovebirds and also the social elements of lurking in place.
However, many of these lights also proved to be inadequate for the look of rampant love on the road, found Toi who visited the place on Wednesday.
As many as 20 couples were found sitting behind a motorcycle or in a car in the area especially where the light did not reach the tree.
“We have installed 18 lights on the wall to turn on the road because the street lights do not illuminate the entire stretch because of the tree cover.
We will now install 20 more lights to increase lighting on the road,” said K Chavda, Representative of Chaves, VNSGU.
In the past too, the top university official ordered security personnel and teachers who lived on campus to oversee the road to foil the pair which ultimately leads to many battles with university officials with university officials too.
