The overall AQI reading is at 353, compared to 355 on Monday.
According to IMD officials, some improvements at the AQI level are expected in the coming days due to rain and good local surface winds.
“Rain and an increase in wind speed will help dissipate the accumulation of pollutants and we expect some increase in the AQI level in the next few days,” said IMD officials.
The Capital Air Quality Index (AQI), meanwhile, remains in the ‘very poor’ category and is likely to increase to the ‘poor’ category on January 6.
The minimum temperature is recorded at 8.5 degrees Celsius, one degree above normal, on Tuesday.
