Greater Noida: General (RET) VK Singh, Minister of State for Road Transportation, Highway and Civil Aviation has announced that Noida International Airport will be associated with NH-91 (GT Road) in Khurja.
For this, a 32-km long stretch will be developed to connect Khurja to Jiwar, he said at a meeting with the authority of the Yamuna Expressway Industry Development Authority (YEIDA) on Thursday.
At a meeting with Yeida officials, CEO of Noida International Airport Limited (NIAL) Arun VIR SINGH, Nodal Officer Shailendra Bhatia and Yamuna International Airport Private Limited (YAPL) CEO Christoph Selman, Singh directed them to prepare connectivity plans.
The aim is to provide maximum connectivity to Jiwar with neighboring areas.
“Nhai will prepare a feasibility report.
NH-91 connectivity will be facilitated with the development of this road,” said Arun VIR Singh, CEO Yeida.
While NH-91 passed through Khurja, it is expected that the route from Khurja to Jiwar will be repaired so that the NH-91 can be accessed.
Officials will also see the possibility of building new roads.
While the existing road requires repairs, after being ready, it can reduce travel time to 40 minutes from now 1 hour 22 minutes via MG Road.
Also, because Delhi-Mumbai Expressway will cross Palwal, it will increase connectivity through Palwal and Khurja to Jiwar from the Greenfield corridor.
In another event on Thursday, Minister of Union Transportation and Highway, Nitin Gadkari announced that the Greenfield corridor would be built by spending RS 2,100 Crore to connect Delhi-Mumbai Expressway with the airport in Jiwar.
For this, land acquisition work has been completed and detailed project reports (DPR) are in the final stage.
According to Gadkari, around 15 projects worth RS 53,000 Crore related to road construction and bridge have been approved in Delhi NCR.
While working on 14 projects ongoing, Rs 2,100 Crore from the total cost will be spent to develop the Greenfield Corridor to connect Delhi-Mumbai Expressway with the airport in the Jewar.
He said work on this project will begin this year.
“With the completion of this project, pollution in Delhi NCR is expected to reduce along with the reduction of congestion situation,” said an official from Yeida.
Furthermore, the work connects DND with Delhi-Mumbai Expressway through Faridabad and Ballabhgarh will be completed in 2023.
