Vadodara: The branch of the local crime (LCB) of the rural police on Sunday seized a large number of liquor near Crossroads Kapurai on National Highway 48.
A man carrying liquor was also arrested.
Police said that the stock of liquor belonging to Jaiswal’s brother, who was in the Bootleging business for a long time.
The police suspected that the stock was smuggled for the distribution during the Panciran District poll that will come as one of Jaisawal’s brothers has also filled the nomination for the election of the village Panchayat.
Police officials said that they maintained a vigil on the highway after receiving a tip-off that the vehicle carrying a stock of liquor would pass from the crossroads of the kapurai.
“We intercepted the Tempo, driven by Ishaq, a resident of Madhya Pradesh, at that time towards Dabhoi Road.
When the vehicle was examined, we found thousands of bottles of liquor,” said a police officer.
The police won 10,632 bottles of small liquor worth Rs 14.76 lakh from Tempo along with cellphones and vehicles.
Young told the police that he got a consignment from Idrism aka Guddu, a citizen of Madhya Pradesh.
“The stock will be sent to Rakesh Jaiswal and Hitesh Jaiswal in Ratanpur Village.
We have ordered a duo under the Libangan Law,” Police added.
Rakesh and Hitesh, who had been ordered and arrested in the past for committing similar violations, had not been arrested.
“We are looking for their home in Ratanpur Village but they are in runaway.
Once they are arrested, we will be able to ensure the purpose of carrying a lot of liquor,” said C K Raulji, police sub-inspector, the Taluka Police Station.
Rakesh also wants with respect to the case of liquor seizures registered three months ago.
Rakesh has also filled the nomination for Pancide Village polls, told Raulji.
Rural police have launched a special encouragement to capture Bootleggers and seize the consignment of liquor to maintain the law and order during the Pancrayat poll.
