Mangaluru: Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) has been on August 2 released a list of applicant provisional applications nominated to become members of 60 Environmental Committees who are looking for objections from citizens.
When the list only mentions the names of the nominated members, residents here have urged MCC to release fresh lists, complete with member details, including their addresses and photos.
M G Hegde’s social activist and the others have asked MCC to disclose details of all members chosen for the Environment Committee.
Hegde said: “Appointing members for the Environment Committee is the process of law.
So there should be no confidentiality in the temporary list.
Their addresses and photos must also be published in the temporary list.
Similarly, City Corporation must also provide reasons for rejection of more than 500 applications.
“Hegde added he had objected to this with City Corporation.
The corporation has set August 17 as the last date to submit an objection to a temporary list.
Hegde said he would move court if MCC did not release a fresh list with the details sought by them.
Meanwhile, MCC issued a format for the convenience of residents to file objections.
Commissioner MCC Akshy Sridhar said the corporation would consider all objections delivered in the format format.
“Nodal officers from each ward will examine objections.
This list will be resolved only after the list is temporarily verified thoroughly by objections,” Commissioner said.
It is mandatory for all city companies to form an environmental committee, consisting of 10 members of each ward, according to the Corporate Kotamada Law (Amendment).
According to this action, the Environment Committee must have the Canporator as chairman of each ward.
Meanwhile, 10 other members who will be nominated by the corporation must consist of at least two members belonging to SC and ST, at least three female members, and at least two members representing the citizen association.
