Prasagraj: A 22-year-old local leader from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Awadesh Maurya, was shot by three attackers near the village of Malaka Khurd under the boundaries of the Jhunsi police station in the Trans-Ganga area on Monday night.
He was in a hurry and was treated at SRN Hospital by the police after the police reached the place.
Maurya underwent treatment after a critical shot injury, police said.
A pine under Section 307 IPC has been registered by the police after a family member of the injured local leader accused that three people named Babbu, Irfan and Shabir were behind the shot.
The police said that the initial investigation showed that the shooting was carried out because of personal hostility.
The police also said that a case below SC \ St acted was also delayed against local leaders who were fired and that the police investigated the case of all angles.
The police said that the injured local leader, Awadesh Maurya, was the bearer of the BJP Mandal Office and that he was seen bleeding by locals outside the village.
The bullet hit him in the lower abdomen and the police will also record his statement as part of an investigation.
Family members from the local BJP leader told the police that Awadesh was targeted by the attackers at night and that Awadesh Maurya was found bloody near a temple by several villagers.
However, no arrests made in this case so far.
