Vadodara / Anand: Residents in Central Gujarat have updated their requests to establish a 45km Arnej-Tarapur railroad that can shorten travel time between Saurashtra-Kutch and South Gujarat.
The Arnej-Tarapur railroad track proposal is one of the oldest proposals waiting for Indian trains since decades.
In 2012, the Minister of Train Union Dinesh Trivedi had even announced it as a new row survey to be taken in 2012-13.
A summary of the ongoing survey at the end of 2014 on the Western train showed that this survey was targeted to be completed in 2015-16.
The Gujarat Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation (G-RIDE), a joint venture of Gujarat government and the train ministry, shows the Large Large Gauge project estimated at the cost of RS 484 Crore is a “upcoming project”.
The G-Ride website reflects that the feasibility of Mani, the bankability study of the railway line has been resolved by consultants.
“G-Ride has approached the train board to approve the approval of the principles for the G-Ride for the implementation of this project by forming a project (special purpose vehicle) SPV under the 100% equity model with GOG and MOR to the Principle Equity Holder in the proportion of 51: 49, “Project Status Report stated.
Kheda MP Devusinh Chauhan and Anand MP Mitesh Patel aka Bakabhai have also approached the train ministry and asked Vadodara Railway Division to speed up the project.
“Train connectivity from Ahmedabad-botads to the new Arnej-Tarapur railroad can be very beneficial for the locals.
While the passenger train movements can be faster against Mumbai, Madhya Pradesh, and South Gujesh, train goods will also reach two hours early to Mumbai, “said a Girish Dave resident.
