NEW YORK: The Minister of External Affairs Jaisankar on Wednesday gave a happy Foreign Minister Nepal Narayan Khadka, said that he hoped to work with him.
President Bidya Devi Bhandari appointed the leader of the Senior Nepal congress on the government’s recommendation led by Prime Minister Sher Bahada Deuba.
“Congratulations to honor Dr.
Narayan Khadka about his appointment as Nepal’s foreign minister.
Hoping to work with him,” Jaisankar tweeted.
Khadka, 72, was given an office oath and confidentiality by President Bhandari amid the official ceremony at the Sheetal Niwas on Wednesday.
The post of foreign ministers has been empty for more than two months after the establishment of a new government led by Deuba.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs portfolio was held by Prime Minister Nepal until now.
Jaisankar, who is here to participate in the high-level 76th UN General Assembly session, will attend the G4 and G20 meeting on Wednesday on the sidelines of Unga.
The G-20 meeting will focus on Afghanistan and the G-4 Foreign Minister meeting will be focused on the Reform of the Security Council.
According to officials in Nepal, Khadka, who led Nepal’s delegation to Unga, will leave Kathmandu for New York on Wednesday night.
