Mayor Sanjeev Sharma ‘Bittu’ has been served notice to get a voice of trust after 42 board members on Thursday went to the Minister of Punjab Brahm Mohindra and the affairs of the State Congress responsible with a letter looking for removal.
Not gardening, the mayor has threatened to be opposite against the minister.
In addition to 60 members of the Board, the Legislator of Brahm Mohindra (Patiala Rural), H S Chandumajra (Sanur) and captain Amarinder Singh (Patiala Urban) also has voting rights in Patiala Municipal Corporation.
The mayor had met Amarinder at his sewanese farmhouse with several members of the Parliament and Patiala, Preneet Kaur, who was also Amarinder’s wife.
They have caused a slogan in Amarinder’s support even though he was at that time floating his own Punjab Congress.
The captain’s constituency included 32 Patiala city wards, while two were under sanat and 26 others under the rural election of Brahm Mohindra.
Asked about the latest developments, Mohindra said: “The council members of Patiala reached me and the evil Chaudhary, and told us that they wanted the Mayor to leave.
Notification to the mayor has been served to tell him to prove his majority at home.” Mohindra claims that he has no hostility with the mayor, and has acted on the request of board members, simple.
Mayor Sanjeev Sharma, however, claimed that he was targeted and the board member had signed the letter under pressure from the Cabinet Minister.
He claimed that most of the board members were on his side, added: “They gave me 30 days to prove the majority.
I will seek a legal opinion about this.” He also said he would compete for patiala rustic assembly chairs.
He did not say which party tickets he would look for.
Last January, the mayor had to perform the power show to make his claim to the patiala rural chair, and a few days later, Mohindra shifted the development work under his constituency from Kitty MC to Patiala improved trust.
