Lucknow: Cases of fresh Covid-19 doubled in the city in the last 24 hours, showing the emergence of the third wave of the Coronavirus pandemic.
At least 49 new cases reported in Lucknow on Friday, almost twice recorded on Thursday, and a surge in the highest lane day in almost seven months.
Previously on June 11, the city has registered 49 cases.
However, everyday case was in a decline after the second wave peaked in April-May, but after 204 days, the city again witnessed a surge.
The number of active cases as on Friday night was 152, up from 47 on December 22.
Of the total patients recorded this month, almost 50% have a history of travel.
While 22 patients recently traveled to other countries, the other two, who returned from Dubai, were tested positive at the airport.
Nine people are patient contacts diagnosed with Covid-19 before, six are those who get themselves tested before visiting other countries.
Four army personnel, who have visited the OPD of Command Hospital, and a health worker of a government hospital, was tested positively.
12 The highest case was reported from Chinhat, followed by Aliganj (8), Indiranagar (6), Alambagh and the old city (respectively), City Station (4), NK Road (3), Aishbagh (2) and Bakshi-Ka- Talab (1).
