Chennai: Madras University has decided to give the name of the development of the defense technology proposed after the former Chief of Staff General of the General Bipin Rawatan who died in a chopper accident near the coonor on December 8.
General care is an alumni of Madras University.
He had received his MPhil in 2010 for his thesis on “media as forced multipliers for the armed forces”.
The new center will focus on the advancement of defense technology and revolution in military affairs.
Speaking at the condolences on Friday, Madras University Vice-Chancellor S Gowri, said, “Demaris General who was poor was not only a loss for the nation, but also to the university because he was a university alumnus.” Colonel Pradeep Kumar T, Additional Chief Engineer, Chief Engineer Office (Factories) said the general bipin was transformer and was preparing Indian soldiers for the war and conflict in the future.
“His endeavor is to bring a revolution in military affairs as done by all modern troops,” he said.
Brigadier LS Lidder, who also died in the accident, was recently promoted as the main general and will be responsible for the division in Jammu and Kashmir, he added.
Lidder is also an alumni of Madras University and submits his mphil thesis about “the ability of China’s space: implications for India” by 2020.
The captain of the Varun Group Singh is also a recipient of the MSc defense and strategic study of the University of Madras.
“The University of Madras has a deep connection with military institutions,” said Utham Kumar Jamadhagni, Head, Department of Defense and strategic studies at the University.
