BELOGIVAVI: Two-year-old girls were found left in a sugar cane submitted in Halamah Village in Athani Taluk a week ago allegedly experiencing black magic.
District police have formed a dedicated team to investigate this case.
According to a senior police officer, the child is currently under treatment for burns in the BELOGIVI Institute of Medical Sciences (BIMS).
The official said that the investigation team also suspected the role of parents because the lost complaints had not been proposed so far in this matter.
The police said the child was found in the field of sugar cane on September 23 in a semi-conscious state with burns.
It looks like the girl is branded with the burning of barus lime.
Injuries are in certain patterns throughout the body which hints at the black science.
The police have also sent toddlers to neighboring countries to check missing complaints.
“There is no disappeared case in Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana with respect to the child,” said Belagavi SP Laxman Nimbaragi.
The police are now working to trace the parents of the child.
Because there were no cases missing, there was a possibility of involvement of parents to subdue the baby to black magic, police said.
