Letter: Family five, including four women, from Silvassa survived an unusual accident because their car was swept away in the canal channel in Kadodara in the district of Gujarat.
The family was still trapped under the bridge for almost two hours early on Tuesday.
For the period they breathed around one foot space between the bridge on the national highway 48 and the water flowed with pressure.
Like a scene from Bollywood film, the family was saved by the Fire and Emergency Service Team (SFES) and police.
Azim Khan Saving Extinguisher Team (50), Sumaiya (42), Swetha (21), Aaliya (21) and Fahima (18), all Silvassa residents in the Union area in Du-Daman-Dadra and Nagar Haveli (DDDNH).
The family returned to Silvassa – Dadra district headquarters and Nagar Haveli – from Ankleshwar when Azim drove a car on the street service near Old Kadodara Police Chowki.
“From the service road, the car falls into canal water.
Maybe the driver loses control over the steering wheel,” said the firefight, Patel Jagdish told Ti.
Water is released on the canal on Monday and it flows with pressure.
The car was swept away with water and stuck under the bridge.
“They couldn’t get out of the car at first when the doors were not open.
But somehow the windshield broke out and the family member came out when the water began to get into the car.
It really sank in seconds,” said the SFES officer section.
from rescue operations.
About 150 meters the canal portion is under the bridge and the car goes almost 10 meters to a narrow room from the tip of the canal.
After leaving the car, the family holds the body of the car in the middle of a heavy water flow and starts shouting for help.
“Their scream could not be heard under the loud voice of the vehicle on the highway.
They then sent whatsapp messages from only one cellphone that functions to relative in Silvassa,” the officer added.
Because the message was not answered, they made a call WhatsApp because normal calls did not function, the officer got information.
Relatives answered the call and he asked people known in the city of the letter to arrange assistance.
The relatives then reached Kadodara and got information at the nearest Chowki.
The police then reached the point and contacted SFES.
“Initially the police and several locals tried to get into the water, but because of the stream of weight and we did not have special equipment, we could not do much,” said a GRD Jawan.
“The family relatives of Silvassa also reached a point when the rescue continued and since then the gap we can estimate that the family remains trapped under a bridge amid heavy water flow for almost two hours,” said an officer SFES.
