Mumbai: State and City reported a Covid case increase on Wednesday, but the weekly indicator showed the spread of infection in the decline.
The Weekly Point Level (WPR) from the State fell to 17.2% on Wednesday, down from nearly 24% last week.
Mumbai reported the lowest WPR 3.6% against almost 8% last week.
The state added 18,067 cases, a 25% surge in the last 24 hours, while death fell from 94 to 79.
Mumbai, after reporting less than 1,000 daily cases for two consecutive days, seeing marginal increase with 1,121 registered on Wednesday.
There are 10 deaths in the city.
Suresh Kakani, commissioner of additional municipalities, said cases and death consistently showed a decrease trend.
With only 95% of Covid beds occupied, BMC can think of downsizing some Jumbo Field Hospital, he added.
