Mumbai: Governor of Bhagat Singh Koshyari has asked Maharashtra Lokayukta Judge V M Kanade to conduct an investigation into alleged irregularities in BMC Ashray Yojana, a scheme to revive the quarter staff of his conservance.
BJP has filed a complaint with Koshyari last month accusing a scam Crore Rs 1,844 throughout the project.
“In this case, I am directed to tell you that complaints have been forwarded to Lokayukta for the appropriate action,” Respond to BJP Corporator Vinod Mishra from Santosh Kumar, the main secretary to Koshyari.
The delegation consisting of BJP Mla Mihir Kotecha and Corporators Mishra and Prabhakar Shinde, among others, met Koshyari last month.
BJP has flattened serious accusations throughout the process of appointment of contractors for rebuilding the quarter of Solid Waste Management staff (SWM) which will cost the Civic body around Rs 1,800 Crore.
“In many tenders, BMC gets a single offer but still provides a quotation contract to do work at RS 1,000 Crore above estimates.
This is a clear corruption case,” Mishra said.
According to the plan, BMC will build 12,698 prements 300 sq ft and 600 sq ft in 34 locations in Mumbai.
Officials said BMC had planned to build 14,110 units but now the scheme has been trimmed into 12,698 houses.
The contract to build a new house in several locations has been cleaned by BMC.
“We have filed complaints with BMC but there is no action taken, so we asked the governor to see it.
The fair and impartial probe will reveal gross irregularities and escalation of costs in this project.
Contracts must be removed and fair.
The tender process must be executed,” Mishra said.
The ambitious scheme floated before the 2012 BMC selection, and has been the promise of polls for the 2017 poll and now once again for polls 2022.
