Prayagraj: Secretary of Shri Pancayati Akhara Niranjani, Mahant Ravindra Puri has been chosen as a new president of Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad (ABAP), the peak decision-making agency from 13 Hindu monastery orders in the country.
The election was required after the death of Mahant Narendra Giri, whose body was found hanging in a Mathematics room Baghambari in the city on September 20.
Puri was chosen as ABAP’s new president at the forecast meeting, which was called General Secretary ABAP, Giri’s Day, who was also the main protector of Juna Akhara, here on Monday.
Of the 13 Akharas (orders of Hinduism) in the country, representatives of Seven Akhara have come for meetings.
With no six Akharas, it was clear that ABAP now stands divided into two groups.
In addition to seven Akharas who attended the meeting, Puri also claimed to have written support from other Akhara, Shri Panch Nirmohi Ani Akhara.
Ravindra Puri was elected as President Abap until 2025 when the end of the end of Narendra Giri’s tenure would be completed.
Puri has the support of seven akharas whose representatives attended the meeting.
In accordance with practice, two members from each 13 Akharas are members of ABAP.
Previously, because the gap in ABAP, Seven Seven Akhara had a meeting in Haridwar on October 21 and chose Mahant Ravindra Puri from Mahanirvani Akhara as President Abap.
Akhara included Mahanirvani, Atal, Nirmohi Ani, Nirvani Ani, drawn Ani, Bada Akhara Udaasin and Nirmal Akhara attended the meeting.
The new executive committee was formed in a meeting held at Shri Mahanirvani Akhara, Kankhal, Haridwar.
In addition to Ravindra Puri, President Nirmohi Ani Akhara, Shri Mahant Rajendra Das was elected secretary general.
Along with them, Damodar Das Maharaj was appointed as vice president, Jaswinder Singh Shastri as treasurer, Ram Kishore Das Maharaj as Secretary, Gaurishar Das Maharaj as spokesman and Maheshwar Das as a protector in the new executive.
However, ABAP General Secretary, Giri’s day of Juna Akhara, has called the election as “evil efforts to divide ABAP” and have not recognized the same thing.
“I have asked for the ABAP meeting for October 25.
If this Akhara has the intention to prove their majority, they should attend the meeting and choose their leader.

Akhara Parishad’s meeting will be called again after three months to choose other executive members.
