Pune: The Maharashtra Education Department has relaxed the minimum age criteria for entering the classes of Nursery to class 1 for the academic year 2022-23, officials said on Tuesday.
In accordance with government resolution (gr) on September 18, 2020, the cut-off date for the minimum age for school receipts is December 31.
Because of this cut-off date, children were born in October, November and December faced problems while securing in school.
Considering this problem, the Ministry of Education has changed the criteria for the minimum age to enter for the 2022-23 academic year, the circular government was stated on Monday.
In accordance with the new rules, children born between October 1, 2018, and December 31, 2019, and have completed a minimum of three years on December 31, 2022, can be accepted in nurseries.

Likewise, children born between October 1, 2016 and December 31, 2017, and who have completed a five-year minimum age on December 31, 2022, qualified for senior kg receipts, he said.
For grade 1 receipts, the minimum age criteria are six-year completion on December 31, 2022.
Children must be born between October 1, 2015, and December 31, 2016.
GR states that the age limit can be flexible for pre-primary reception.
No school must refuse to enter children by quoting age problems, he said.
Circular says there is no upper limit that is decided for reception and it can be kept flexible.
