Nagpur: Farmers in Vidarbha are mostly still indifferent to the call of Benh Bharat against three controversial agricultural laws.
The farm produces a market, including the Kalamna Agriculture Market Committee page (APMC), remains open on Monday with a similar report that comes from other parts of the area.
In Nagpur, political party workers forced shop owners to reduce window leaves in the market area even though the business returned before the police after some time.
The leaders of Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) who gave Bandh’s call also admitted that the response in Maharashtra was only lukewarm.
They blamed state agricultural leaders who used the influence on farmers because they did not advance with full enthusiasm.
There is no support from opposition parties too, a leader said.
Sandip Gitte-Patil, SKM Coordinator, said there was a Stalwart agricultural leader such as Bacchu Kadu, who was the Minister of MVA, or Raju Shetti, a former member of Parliament from Swabhimani Papha and others, but none of them participated in the strike.
This is one reason the strike cannot get a big response in the state, he said.
Shetti told TOI that also the time for introspection whether an alternative strategy for strikes could be explored to suppress the demands of farmers.
“The response is not much because farmers are tired because of prolonged locking.
State farmers have protested against the three previous laws, because they are not too interested this time,” Shetti said.
Kishore Tiwari, an agricultural activist and Chair of Vasantrao rose Sheti Swavlamban Mission (VNSSM), said the committee did not get along with other clothes.
However, Gitte-Patil said the call was given to other agricultural leaders as well.
Atul Senad The Broker Association in Kalamna said the business was usually on Monday without a reduction in arrival.
Sudhir Kothari, a director at APMC in Hingangphat in the Wardha District, said the market there remained open, but closed in the ocean.
Singevant, a farmer in Patoror, a village near the Telangana border in Yavatmal District, said his response was lukewarm on the Maharashtra side, but almost total in Telangana.
The impact was slightly seen at the district headquarters and not in the villages, said source.
Arun Wankar from SKM claimed to have stopped traffic on Jalan Raya Nagpur-Jabalpur for about half an hour.
Similar protests were also held elsewhere, he said.
In Nagpur, political party workers headed to the Sitabuldi market after protest near the Statue of Gandhi in Variety Square.
NCP Youth Wing Leader Shailendra Tiwari said there were several symbolic protests with several shop owners who supported the cause.
Some banners were damaged by political workers, but there was no unwanted incident, he said.
Political activists have closed shops in Gokulpeth Market, Gandhibagh, Cotton Market, Kamal Chowk, Itwari and such places for a short period before the presence of the police help shop owners continue the business.
NCP City President Duneshwar Pete said party workers from various clothing gathered to support farmers, who had been restless for more than a year on the outskirts of Delhi, but the central government did not seem to have a mood for them.
“The tortial attitude of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is hating.
His indifference to the struggle of farmers encourages us to unite against him,” he said.
