Nagpur: Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) suffered the first major setback in the Vidarbha region since taking control of Maharashtra in 2019.
It loses the Washim Nagpur and Akola-Buldhana chair by destroying margins in the Constituency Constitution of the Local Authority MLC poll which results are announced on Tuesday.
Previously, it had lost the election election and Zilla Parishad and Bypolls to the three-party coalition.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has won four of the six seats where the selection was held on December 10.
Polls for four of them were arrested after an unofficial pact between the opponent’s faction.
It includes two seats in BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) where Rajhans Singh and Shiv Sung Sunil Shinde won.
Congress and BJP pocketed one seat in the chair of Kolhapur and Nandurbar-Dhule.
Even though it was the expected victory for Chandrashekhar the Safron Party, the Constituency of Washim Akola-Buldhana, it was interesting a kind of coup by defeating Gopikishan Bajoria Shiv Sena, MLC three times, with a margin of 109 votes, despite the fact that the MVA constituents have more than 400 votes from 822 Voters.
As reported by TOI on December 12, Prakash Ambedkar’s Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA) played an important role in ensuring the victory of BJP Vasant Khandelwal along with several independent.
While Khandelwal secured 443 votes, Bajoria poll 334 of 808 found valid.
That is, BJP pocketed a large number of 157 votes from other parties that might cover 86 VBA, 77 independently and a bit of MVA – Sena, NCP and Congress constituents.
In Nagpur too, BJP received 44 votes from three coalition partners and other parties besides the calculation with 318.
MVA supported by Mangesh Independent Deshmukh received 186 votes.
Former Ravindra Bhoyar congress candidate, which was imported from BJP, managed to receive one vote, which all speculated that it might be his own.
He, however, told Ti on Friday that he called the party line and chose Deshmukh.
He denied choosing himself, leaving a big question mark about who he had chosen.
Even the Grand Old Party has issued a whip for all representatives chosen and nominated to support Deshmukh.
The opposition leader Devendra Fadnivis praised the twin victory Bawansule and Khandewal stated that it was a tight slap on the face of MVA partners.
“These two wins are special and the results of hard work from every approaching to the victory of Nagpur and Akola with a big margin, once again, BJP proves his courage in this MLC selection,” he tweeted.
Fadnavis was in town to welcome Bawankule and joined party workers in the celebration after the results were announced on Tuesday morning on the grass.
Speaking to the media there, he said, “political arithmetic does not mean that three MVA comes together to secure victory.
It does not work in politics always, it is actually a political chemistry, which is with us.” The Maharashtra Pradesh congress committee who was sad President Nana Patole blamed BJP for “Horse Trade” in the polls to secure victory.
“They were forced to not democratic tactics to win polls, which are their modus operandi.
However, we will welcome the people’s mandate,” he said.
