Vadodara: Large leaks occurred in the main pipeline carrying water to the city from the French well in the Mahi River near Fajalpur on Tuesday night.
The leak was fixed by Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) early on Wednesday.
According to sources, violations in the pipe took place near the village of Nandesari on the outskirts of the city because of laying cable work carried out by private telecommunications companies.
After being told about leaks, VMC officials rushed to the place around midnight and started working to plug in leaks on the pipe with a diameter of 1.354mm.
Work can be completed at around 6 am on Wednesday.
The source said that the Civic body will issue a notification to telecommunications companies, asking for paying pipe damage and also for waste of drinking water from it.
