Kolkata: Chairman of the Minister of Mamata Banerjee on Thursday took an oath as a member of the Bengal legislature.
He was given an oath by Jagdeep Governor Dhankhar.
Banerjee, who won Bhowanipore Bypoll by a record margin of 58,835 votes, took an oath in Bengali at home where the opposition Mola was unfair.
Trinamool Mlaas Congress repeatedly hit their table to greet him before and after oath taking.
Parliament Minister Parliament Chatterjee illustrates the absence of opposition members as “hidden frustrated results”.
“They lost numbers in the assembly in such a way that they forgot the tradition and glory of the house.
If the opposition leader felt it was not important enough to attend the oath taking ceremony, I felt he failed to qualify as the leader at home,” Chatterjee said.
He then told reporters: “The party dreams of getting 200-plus seats in assembly polls, the party who talks about parliamentary democracy, has shown little attention to parliamentary norms.” The absence of BJP parliamentarians, he added, also reflected a little their appreciation for the Governor’s post.
The opposition leader Suvendu Adhikari said all BJP legislators were absent because they did not attach great importance to the spirit of MLA who had won in the spots.
Adhikari has campaigned for BHOWANIPORE candidates BJP Priyanka Tibrewal.
Mapping Roy, who switched from BJP to Trinamool a few months ago, was present.
Two other Trinamool legislators who were just elected Jakir Hossain and Amirul Islam also took an oath.
Jakir won with a margin of 92,480 votes from Jangipur and Amirul from Shamsherganj at 26,379 votes.
Dhankhar was welcomed at his arrival by Banerjee CM and Banner Banerjee speaker, who escorted him to the house.
After the ceremony ended, the governor spent about 20 minutes in the speaker room in front of CM and Chatterjee.
CM presents him the music CD that he has his voice.
It has become a convention in the Bengal Legislative Assembly that the speaker manages an oath to the Governor’s temporary legislator managing the oath of office to ministers.
However, Dhankhar confirmed that he would not delegate responsibility to the Banerjee speaker, whose strength to give an oath to the legislative members of the country was withdrawn by Raj Bhavan before Bypolls.
