Coimbatore: Police Saranallur captured the building contractor on Tuesday for attacking a government doctor, who advised him not to drive his bicycle with one hand while holding his child on the other side.
A police officer said the incident occurred when the Doctor of the Government Hospital Malayadipalayam 47-year-old K Ganesh Chandrakalandaran, a resident of Ramanjam Nagar in Uppilipalayam, on Monday.
“He found a building contractor – M Baskar, 41, from the same area – riding his bicycle with one hand while holding his son on the other side.
The doctor told him not to do it.
Baskar stopped his bicycle and quarreled.
Suddenly, he began to hit the doctor.
When he saw this, the man and two other women joined Baskar in his struggling, “the officer said.
All incidents were recorded on CCTV cameras.
The doctor suffered minor injuries and was treated at Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital.
He then filed a complaint with Sananallur police.
Arun Inspector registered a case below Section 294b, 323, 324 and 506 (ii) from Indian Criminal Code and arrested Baskar on Tuesday.
He was returned in custody judge at night.
Officers said they had launched the hunt for the three remaining accused in this case.
