Mangaluru: Mangaluru City Police arrested two people, including MBBS students in the last year, and seized 1.2 kg of Hydro weeds from them.
City Police Commissioner N Shashi Kumar said on Wednesday that the two defendants were arrested after police intercepted the car near the derestry.
Hydro Weed was suspected of obtaining from European countries.
The defendant who was arrested was Meenu Rashmi, 27, from Kanyakumari, MBBS students last year who lived in Suratshkal, and Azmal Tota, 24, a graduate BBA from Mangalpady at Kasaragod District in Kerala.
The defendant was presented before a court, and Azmal had been taken to police custody for an investigation.
The police also confiscated a car and two cellphones from the defendant.
DCP Hariram Shankar said that the Hydro Weed market level, based on its quality, starting from Rs 2,000 and can cost up to RS 25,000 per gram.
The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) will be consulted to ensure the value of the confiscated product.
