Mangaluru: When people in many areas in the city continue to dispose of garbage in public places, Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) has adopted an online surveillance mechanism to store tabs on litterbugs, and thus reduce the number of black spots.

The router with a SIM in the camera unit sends a direct recording from the points, and the command center and MCC control can identify violators and take the necessary actions.
Meanwhile, health inspectors can also check footage through their cellular application, he said, adding that City Corporation has purchased six camera units, including the solar system, at a cost of 4.1 lakh Rs, he added.
Mayor Premanand Shetty said the new system would help City Corporation to submit criminal cases against those who dispose of garbage beside the road and other public places.
