Mangaluru: City Police have arrested a 38-year-old man for allegedly abandon a two-year-old girl and then tried to kill him by throwing it into a saltwater fish tank in a fish processing unit.
Allegations have been arrested and identified as Chandan.
City Police Commissioner N Shashi Kumar said that on Monday morning they received information from the hospital that a two-year-old girl who survived the incident was brought by her parents for care.
Officers rushed to the hospital.
The doctor who took care of the child told the investigative officer that not only was the trial case sinking but there were signs that showed that the child was also sexually attacked.
Nearly 80 migrant workers, most of Bihar, moved in cutting and marinating fish in the fish processing unit.
Those who come from Bihar, including around 30 families and there are around 25 children up to six years, which are taken care of in a room.
On questions, parents, working as laborers and becoming fish cuts, they said they were in the unit until around 4pm on Sunday and had stepped out to buy a fan between 4pm and 6pm.
When they returned, they realized that their daughter lost.
They are looking for almost two hours.
Around 9pm, they found the child lay unconscious in the fish tank that had salt water in it.
Parents rushed to a private clinic.
In further investigation, the person who worked in the unit said that they had seen Chandan carrying children with him around 4pm.
He was immediately chosen and questioned and acknowledged the crime.
The Commissioner said that the child responded to treatment and had regained awareness.
Saltwater has entered his lungs, he added.
