Mangaluru: Sarve Village near Putture is an example of communal harmony in which the population of Hindu and Muslim villages gathered and contributed to the renovation of Yelia Sri Wisnurumahy Temple, an 800-year-old structure of around 65 km from Mangaluru.
Although some efforts to renovate the temple in the past, work could begin only after the entire village, cutting out religious barriers, out to support the project.
“Several times, Muslims have asked us to take renovation work.
Nearly 30% of the population is Muslim and 50% Hindu.
The majority of middle-class people.
A temple renovation committee was formed in 2019, after that the renovation work began,” said Prasanna Rai Treasurer of the committee, said.
Some WhatsApp groups were made and decided to divide the costs so that donors were not burdened.
“For example, when it arrived at the construction of wells that would cost around Rs 75,000, we called a donor to sponsor a single ring.
Likewise, for copper ceilings, donors were asked to sponsor 1 square foot for Rs 1,000.
Therefore from zero balance , when the Temple’s renovation work began, we managed to increase adequate funds mostly through whatsapp groups, and we can do work which costs around Rs 2 Crore, “Prasanna said.
“Bramhakalashotava from the temple will be held on Sunday,” he added.
Also, hundreds of people have volunteered to work on location.
Can be remembered that Abbas Majalugadde, his brother Majalugadde Abubacker Kooduraste and his niece puttu beary, all villagers, offered a three acre plot to be cultivated for a season last year.
“All villages have lived in harmony for several years.
We are part of Uroos and Muslim celebrations are part of the celebration of the temple.
We plan to develop this temple as a cultural center,” Prasanna said.
