Mangaluru: The resilience shown by a three twin mother in the presence of extreme stress – after her family was infected with Covid-19 – had placed the family on the road to recovery.
Nightmare began in June for Dr.
Shwetha Kamath, the mother of three-year-old triplets – Vedas, Mantra and Shlok – when one of them experienced viral fever.
Immediately, two other children, along their father Dr.
Annappa Kamates, was also tested positive for Covid.
This couple has taken both vaccine doses.
The family isolated himself at home by monitoring their symptoms.
When Dr.
Shwetha was too positively tested with mild symptoms, all the main contacts of children, including Nanny and House Help, are also a symptom.
The first challenge was when blood oxygen level Dr.
Annappa went down, because he had to be hospitalized.
He was treated at a private hospital for three days, after that he returned home.
But then, it shows symptoms and an unusual reaction to the disease and drugs given.
Shwetha took over, and made sure she got the treatment needed at home, after consulting her doctor.
He sat beside his bed all night for close observations.
Dr.
Shwetha said: “Strange to see my husband, if not a person who lives, in this situation.
I decided to make it back to normal.
Children and I have to be extra careful.
Children, who lose weight drastically, given Normal diet as suggested by a doctor, and some candy to gain weight.
“Shwetha added that he made a video call to ensure that children did not miss their father while in the hospital.
Dr.
Annappa said in normal times, they would share household responsibilities.
“Maintaining a three-year twin, although it’s fun, it’s hard even in normal times.
But suddenly, everything fell on Shwetha’s shoulder.
Our parents peeled off and provide great-needed support,” he said.
Dr.
Annappa recovered now, so have everything else in the family.
