Religious: Excise personnel in the Gajapati District confiscated around 1,900 kg of marijuana worth around Rs 95 Lakh near Marlaba Ghati on Wednesday.
The opportunity was being transported in a truck with a Maharashtra registration number and hidden under a blank vegetable basket, said P K Setthi, Excise Supervisor, Gajapati.
It was transported from Chandiput in the Gajapati District to Maharashtra through Palasa in Andhra Pradesh.
Truck driver, Alok Ranjan Swain from Jagatsinghpur, arrested.
Excellent personnel also arrested two local people suspecting their role in smuggling, he added.
“We have registered a case under the different parts of the NDPS law and began a further investigation into the right source of procurement, said the supervisor around Rs 62.5 lakh near Simanbadi in the limit of the District Office of the District Kandhamal District.
The need is being transported in the car and motorbike with a registration number.
