Bhubaneswar: The state government on Friday prohibits all types of celebrations, except marriage, on December 25 and from December 31 to January 2 to examine the possibility of the spread of omicrons during Christmas and New Year.
Although there is no celebration other than marriage permitted, the state has also forbidden acceptance and other additional events, only allowing marriage rituals on these dates.
The government has also blocked community parties during this period.
People can do funeral rituals by following the Covid protocol, orders issued by the Special Help Commissioner Pradeep Kumar Jena said.
The order says Christmas will be limited to churches with a maximum of 50 people permitted during the masses.
The government has announced a ban on the celebration and the New Year’s Eve party and that in January 1 said there would be strict awareness to prevent crowding.
“There are no social meetings, demonstrations, orchestras, dances and other cultural programs will be permitted,” said the government.
