New Delhi: Maruti Suzuki Toyotsu India (MSTI) on Tuesday started the ‘End-of-Life Vehicles’ (Elvs) scrapping operation and recycling unit.
In particular, this facility was inaugurated by Minister of Union Transportation and Jalan Raya Nitin Gadkari on Tuesday.

Facilities have the capacity for memo and recycle more than 24,000 ELVs every year.
It has been built with more investments than Rs 44 Crore, this facility uses “modern machines and advanced technology to dismantle and scrap elv in a scientific way”.
In addition, aligning with the vision of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’, the company said that all equipment used in this facility was produced in India.
“I will ask for Maruti and other stakeholders to build and create ecosystems from scrapping units and similar recycling throughout the country.
It will make the road safer, air purifier, and raw materials cheaper for their cars,” Gadkari said .
In the inauguration, Kenichi Ayukawa, Chairperson, MSTI and Implementing Director & CEO, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said: “Until now there is no scientific, clean and healthy way to remove the car at the end of life.
MSTI uses a global process methodology to overcome this gap.
“This is just the beginning.
With our partners, we are committed to establishing more ELV memos and recycling centers in India.” MSTI was founded in 2019 as a joint venture of 50:50 between Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) and Toyota Tsusho Group (TTC TSUSHO Corporation (TTC) & Toyota Tsusho India Private Limited (TTIPL).
