Kolkata: a big fire broke out in a four-story building in the Colootola area which was jammed on Monday morning, an official said.
No one was injured in the flames that erupted on the third floor around 11am, he said, adding, 14 fire tenders had been pressed into the service to extinguish the fire.
A large number of clothes were stacked in the building room, where two families also lived, the fire department said.
A team of the Hare Street police station and the disaster management department were also involved in rescue operations.
“Our efforts continue.
There are materials that are flammable in the building too,” the official said.
The cause of the fire has not been confirmed.
