Coimbatore: City Police will register the first information report on media houses that reveal the identity of class XII students, who commit suicide on Thursday last night after he was sexually harassed by the physics teacher.
Police collect detailed print media, news channels, YouTube channels, and various social media users who reveal the identity of the victim’s girl.
Police said many social media users had posted photos of the girl, demanding justice for him.
“This problem was brought to knowledge of justice and they suggested us to take the necessary actions against media houses because they revealed the identity of victims of sexual violence.” T Jayachandran, Deputy Commissioner of the City Police said the police team had been deployed to gather details of the media house which revealed the girl’s identity and named it.
“We will register the case below Section 23 of the protection of children from sexual violations acting against media homes and social media users because they reveal the identity of the victim.”
