Vadodara: Mega facility to keep a sick, injured or involved in human conflicts will appear in Jambughoda.
This facility will meet the needs of the center and South Gujarat.
The increase in the capacity of the rescue center is felt quite long now because the existing facilities are used to be often packed.
Leopard must be transferred to Junagadh from time to time.
There are two centers in Dhobikuva and Jambughoda who continue to save leopards.
Dhobuva’s center capacity is 10 leopards while those in Jambughoda have only three leopardized capacity.
Deputy Forest Conservator M Meena said that new facilities in Jambughoda would have a capacity of around 40 leopards.
“Details must still work.
It will also be able to accommodate leopards from South Gujarat as well,” he said.
Meena said that the detailed project report (DPR) for the new rescue center was being prepared.
This center will appear near the center in Jambughoda in the Sadra forest.
According to official sources, the work is expected to end in the current financial year.
This center will have facilities for leopard care and even leopard and child care.
The same new facilities will come in Amreli too.
According to the last census, the leopard population in Gujarat is around 1,400 and their number continues to increase.
The number of attacks on humans by the leopards also saw the trend of increasing, mostly in Saurashtra, with the majority of victims into migrant agricultural workers who slept in the open.
