New Delhi: BCCI plans to hold a two-day Indian Premier League auction on February 7 and 8 in Bengaluru, a BCCI senior official said on Wednesday.
This can be the last mega auction that BCCI may do because most of the original IPL franchises want to be stopped.
“Except the Covid-19 situation worsened, we will have an IPL Mega auction in India.
The two-day program will be held on February 7 and 8 and like other years, we plan to hold it in Bengaluru.
Preparation is taking place,” A senior BCCI preparation told PTI about anonymous conditions.
There are reports that the auction will be held in the UAE but until now, BCCI does not have such a plan.
But with the emergence of omicron variants of Covid-19 and increased cases, the situation will remain fluid but if there is a limit on the way abroad (unless all the owners decide to use the charter aircraft), doing that in India will be less than a logistical nightmare .
This year’s IPL will become a 10-team with Sanjiv Goenka owned by the Lucknow franchise together with Ahmedabad’s Ventura CVC capital company made their debut in the Rich League.
But the CVC waits for the letter of his intention from BCCI but is expected to get everything clearly in the next few weeks.
Both teams have time until Christmas to announce their three draft picks but BCCI may extend the date because the CVC has not received permission.
Most franchises feel that the Mega auction has passed selling-beat and composition and the team’s balance will be very compromising when there are auctions after every three years.
The owner of Delhi the capital of the owner of the Jindal Parth actually said this on the note of how difficult to release players after trying to build a team.
“It was very sad to lose Shreyas Iyer, Shikhar Dhawan, Kagiso Rabada and Ashwin.
The auction process itself is something like this.
In the future, the IPL must see this because you do not build a team, provide opportunities for young players, take care of them and make them opportunities From the franchise, play for the country and then you lose them after three years, “Jindal said after the player’s retention was announced on November 30.
