Shillong / Guwahati: Meghalaya on Tuesday recorded five cases of omicron infection, which included one visitor from neighboring Assam.
According to the Ministry of Health Meghalaya, omicron cases cover two of Saiden, one from Langkyrding, one from Happy Valley and one from Laitumkhrah in the capital of Shillong State.
The country recorded 32 Covid-19 cases on Tuesday.
The source of the Ministry of Health Assam said a 13-year-old boy, who was a country’s population, was reported as one of the five people who had tested Positive Omicron in Meghalaya.
“The boy migrated to Assam from Meghalaya on December 22.
The sample was collected on December 21 in Meghalaya where all the sequencing genomes were finished,” said the source to Ti.
Meghalaya Health Department has told the Ministry of Health Assam about this case.
The Ministry of Health Assam was waiting for official communication from Meghalaya’s side, before officially claiming it was the first population of the state that had been found by Omicron positive.
The boy cannot be traced to the State Health Department supervision team because he cannot be reached on registered phones.
“Contact tracking will be a big challenge now because the boy might go to Meghalaya and with his parents.
Consider the spread of eryikron faster, he must have infected a lot,” added the official.
Another international passenger, which was tested by Positive Omicron in Meghalaya, was reported through Guwahati Airport in December.
