Letter: The 83-year-old man whose body was found on Sunday from the canal in Jahangirpura was strangled, said the police on Tuesday.
A violation of the murder was registered by the Katargam police after the postmortem report from the deceased identified as Gopal Mayai revealed that he was strangled and his body was thrown into the canal.
According to the police, Mayaii on the last Saturday went to meet her friend in the morning.
When he did not go home at night, his family members began to look for him.
They then approached the Katargam police.
On Sunday afternoon, the police found Mayai’s body from a canal.
The postmortem report received on Monday night said that Mayai died of the strangulation.
Mayaii is used to have a textile unit which is currently being operated by his son.
He lived a retired life over the past few years.
The police also found a hearing, chappal, and senior cayui ID card from Jalan Sayan.
