Udupi: After almost 20 months, Harish Bangera, 34, who was arrested on December 20, 2019, in Saudi Arabia for alleged posting an insulting message on Facebook, arriving at Bengaluru Airport on Wednesday.
He was welcomed by his wife Sumana, Putri Hanishka and Lokesh Ankadakatte, Abhishek and Prakash friends.
With them he proceeded to Kundapur.
Sumana, a Teacher Anganwadi, told TOI: “My husband’s release will not be possible without the support of several people and organizations.
When I first heard that my husband was arrested, as if the world had ended, and I almost lost hope to see it again.
Initially, we did not have much support.
However, the Facebook report came, and a case was submitted, I am sure that justice will win.
This has become a difficult phase, emotionally and financially and at first it is difficult to talk to my husband by telephone.
However, gradually, I was allowed to talk to him once a week.
I will not let him leave his family and travel abroad again.
We now need support to start a new life, “Sumana said.
Given the challenge, he said: “After giving birth to our daughter, I handed over my assignment to take care of him.
But once my husband is in trouble, I have to find work and manage everything yourself.” Harish Bangera, a resident of Goyadibettu in Beerejadi Village, Kundapur, is an AC technician for Company in Dammam.
He was arrested for alleged posting an insulting message on Facebook against the Saudi Crown Prince of Saudi Mohammad bin Salman and a community.
Last year, the Udupi District Police had submitted a chargesheet in connection with the arrest of two brothers to hack social media accounts about provocative poles that were provocative.

Harish worked in Saudi Arabia for almost six years, visited his home town on January 4, 2019, and returned on May 4, 2019.
