Stuttgart: Reveal the EQG concept, Mercedes-Benz announced that it presents the all-electric all-electrical variant of the G-Wagon.
4×4 quality of “g”, which always sets the highest standards, not only will find their way into the age of electrical mobility but will be further developed in several regions, German companies tell.
The origin of the G-Class model that success returned to 1979.
For more than four decades, “G” thus realized the luxury off-road vehicle from Mercedes-Benz.
The studies that almost production adopt the G-Class angle silhouette including its iconic elements.
The illuminated lines make a strong exterior protective strip prominent visually.
The edge of the finishing separated two interesting tones – black gloss above, gloss aluminum beam at the bottom – walking in the front end area directly under the hood above it, so it emphasizes this design feature more clearly.
The front view of the EQG concept looks familiar, at least because of the typical round headlights.
Instead of radiator grille, as in a versions of conventionally supported models, all-electric variants have black radiator grille in continuous.
In this black panel grille, the star that lights up with 3D effects sets a striking accent.
Around it, the animated pattern of “round box” in blue which is familiar with the Mercedes-EQ model makes a visual link.
The band that lights up the black panel, which, next to a white circle is on the exterior greenhouse, complements the daytime light chart that runs during the day.
The EQG concept rose on the aluminum alloy wheels that polished 22 inches in an exclusive design.
Instead of the usual backup wheel cover, there is a box that can be locked with a white accent on the back door, whose design reminiscent of the wall box.
His body is also based on a strong ladder frame.
The chassis design remains very off-road capable, as is the typical G-Class: with an independent suspension in the front axle and a rigid axle on the back, newly developed for electrical drive integration.
With four electric motors close to the wheel and can be controlled individually, the vehicle will offer unique driving characteristics both in and off-road.
Like the real 4×4, the concept of off-road EQG reduction can be activated through a 2-speed gearbox that shifts to meet the “G” – off-road requirements with confidence.
Equipped with this way, a fully electrical-powered version of the G-Class course faced the legendary test lane on Mount Schöckl high 1445 meters in Graz at the end of its development into a series model.
Spoted with gradients up to 60 degrees, the 5.6 kilometer route is always considered in the international off-road scene as one of the world’s biggest challenges for humans and technology.
After successfully conquering it, “G” Electric will also be able to decorate with a certificate of quality “proven Schöckl” which is mandatory for the 463 series.
And like conventional brothers and siblings, it will also shine with a climbing capacity of up to 100 percent on the suitable soil .
The design advantage of the electric drive also plays its help, making it very suitable for off-road vehicles and ambitious off-road operations.
The battery that is integrated into the ladder frame ensures a low gravity center.
Because the electric motor provides their maximum torque practically with the first revolution, all-electric off-road vehicles such as the EQG concept and the next production model boast of attractive and control power – which also proved to be an advantage to the steep slopes and in the field.
“Wherever the market conditions permit, Mercedes-Benz will be ready to be fully electrical at the end of the decade,” emphasizing Markus Schäfer, Member Management Board Daimler AG and COO Mercedes-Benz cars.
“With this strategic step of ‘the first electricity’ into ‘electricity only’, including sustainable production and our neutral battery life cycle, we accelerate the transformation into the future of zero-emissions and software driven.
We want to inspire our customers to turn to mobility Electricity with convincing products.
Icons like G-Class fulfill this task perfectly.
