Kolkata: South City and Bengal can be beaten by two consecutive low pressures this weekend and on Tuesday, with the second predicted to trigger heavy rain in the city and the surrounding districts.
While the low-pressure area “which is well marked” over the East Bay-center Bengal now approaches Odisha beach and can attack on Sundays, other cyclone circulation – again above the east-central bay – can cause heavy shower in Kolkata in September.
28.
“The first can have a minimum impact on Kolkata because the system moves towards Odisha Beach.
But the second, which will be formed on Saturday, can have a strong impact.
We hope the system to move towards North Bay of Bengal on Tuesday and then move To Gangetic Bengal.
This can cause heavy rainfall in Kolkata and throughout the South Bengal, “said the Director of the Regional Meteorology Center (RMC) GK DAS.
He added the Odisha-bound system too, could lead to showing off in Kolkata on Sunday.
This is set to develop into depression on Saturday, but rain can be light to medium.
“The second system, however, must trigger heavy rain, although only in the city and the surrounding district.
Therefore it is set to move to North Bay, the impact on Gangetic Bengal tends to be higher,” said the watershed.
RMC has issued a heavy rain warning for Kolkata on September 28, along with East and West midnapore, Jharram, Purulia, South and North 24 Pargana, Howrat, Hooghly and Bankura.
One or two places in Midnapore and South 24 parganas tend to receive heavy rain on Monday.
On Friday, the city received sunlight and stayed dry for most of the morning, even though it turned cloudy next and some areas sometimes drink drizzle.
According to Met Offices, local clouds that have been formed in South Bengal have triggered bathrooms since Wednesday and can continue until Sunday when depression tends to hit a gangetic bengal and kolkata.
The Met Office said the two systems could lead to river water surface increases, waterlogging in the city area, damage to plants and Kachcha roads.
People are advised to stay safe from lightning strikes and avoid old and dilapidated buildings.
