Chennai: MG Indian motorbikes are interested in Indian Ford assets and have started talks with American Auto Major.
Talks including Sanand and Nagar Marimalaai factory which currently increases production because Ford prepares a way out of manufacturing in India.
MG has expressed interest but talks are in a very early stage, said source.
President & CEO Rajeev Chaba refused to comment on this problem.
MG previously viewed Ford facilities for making contracts even though the pandemic and its impact on sales meant that the plan to expand the capacity must be postponed.
But now, ‘all options’ are being seen including contract manufacturing and direct sales.
With Ford left with several options, potential buyers looking for bargaining.
The Government of Tamil Nadu will offer full support for the process in terms of approval and assets that can attract fiscal benefits have also made more attractive assets.
Ford India has been in talks with different companies including Ola’s two-wheeled electric vehicles.
