Coimbatore: Regensathy Minister of Law on Monday launched a government policy decision to turn all central prisons in the state to become an open air prison and modernize all facilities.
Overcoming the media in the city center prison, he said, “we must identify land to regulate open air prison in the state.
The government will make decisions about this problem.
It is not easy to start the process now, because the government faces a severe financial crisis.” When asked about Moving Coimbatore Central Prison, the minister said former Minister of Chief Edappadi K Palaniswami had announced plans to establish ‘Semmozhi Poongga’ at the central prison spot during the World Tamil Conference in 2010 and the same thing would be taken to the attention of the MK Stalin leader.
“If the government decides to establish a park, the central prison will shift to another location, which will be decided later.
Until now, we have no plans to move prisons,” he said.
Regrupathy said the state government was considering a request for early liberation inmates, which had served penalties for more than 10 years.
The minister saluted the portrait of Freedom Fighter V O Chidambaram Pillai and oil press, which was forced by Freedom Fighter to attract when the British government had put it in the Ceimbatore center prison during the freedom struggle.
Regupupathy also interacts with prison inmates, which demanded the release of premature inmates who had completed 10 years in prison.
