Bengaluru: Minister of Home Karnataka Araga Jnanendra on Thursday said children should not use a hijab shawl or turmeric in school and he has asked the police to oversee religious organizations that try to damage the country’s unity in this matter.
Speaking to reporters here, he said no one had to come to school because he practiced their religion, because it was a place where all students had to learn along with feelings of unity.

Headscarves’ (headscarves) by several students at the Government Pre-University School in Udupi.
In another incident, Muslim female students at Kundapur PU College, who reached the institution today wore a headscarf, stopped at the gate by the principal.
They were told that they were not allowed to wear headscarves in the classroom and were asked to remove them before entering.
Yesterday, around 100 Hindu students came to the class wearing a turmeric scarf as a counter to the girls wearing a headscarf.
“School is a place where children belong to all religions must learn together and absorb the feeling that we are no different, and all are children of Bharat Mata,” Jnanendra said in response to a question.

Calling everyone to think in this direction, he said, “There is a religious organization who thinks otherwise, I have asked the police to supervise them.
Those who cause obstacles or damage the unity of this country, they must be handled,” he said.

Students wore a turmeric scarf as a step in retaliation for the headscarf and created a conflict atmosphere, said Jnanendra, no one had to come to school because he practiced their religion.
“Everyone must come there to study as children of Bharat Eyes.
No one has to wear a hijab or turmeric shawl in the school, they must mandate to follow the rules set by the School Management Committee,” he added.
