Mangaluru: The Minister of Development of Urban Byrathi Basavaraj, who examined a large development work implemented through Smart City Mangaluru Limited (MSCL), Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC), the authority of Urban Mangaluru (Young) and KUIDFC in the city, took officials for the task of weakness in accelerating work and warn of criminal acts of contractors.
The minister said he was not happy with the pace of development work taken under various government schemes in Mangaluru.
He also decided to regularly hold an inspection and review the meeting on the progress of work every month.
“Actions will be taken against officials if the works related to MCC and Smart City are not completed within a period of time.
Criminal cases will also be registered with the contractor,” he said at a review meeting at MCC on Tuesday.
The minister was informed that from 63 road work taken by MSCL, only 16 were finished.
The minister said all the remaining works must be completed within three months.
He directed MSCL officials to carry out the tender process for the seafront project, which had been planned at the cost of Rs 200 Crore.
“Work order for the project must be given at the end of February,” he said.
He also took officials for the assignment for delays in the implementation of the 24×7 Jalasairi drinking water project.
“Of the 1,388 Km work layered pipes planned under the project, only 250 km was finished, even though the project was taken in 2020.
Didn’t you apply your mind when preparing a detailed project report? Do you have no responsibility to complete the project on time “He asked officials.
While City Corporation has planned 19 overhead tanks under the 24×7 water supply scheme, the work starts at 13 locations.
Hitting Officials on delays, the Minister gave a new deadline in November 2023 to complete the scheme.
