Minister of Justice France in court for alleged conflict of interest

Paris: French Controversial Justice Minister arrived at the Court on Friday for questioning unusual cases of serving cabinet members who could lead charges of alleged conflict of interest.
Eric Dupond Moretti, a former 60-year-old lawyer, was recruited by President Emmanuel Macron just a year ago, exchanging his life as one of the most famous criminal lawyers in the country for a career in politics.
Now he stands accused of taking advantage of his position as a minister to complete the score with opponents from his legal career.
“The Minister of Justice was not on the law, but he was also not underneath,” DuPond-Moretti told reporters when he arrived at the Republical Court in Central Paris.
The court, which consisted of judges, senators, and parliamentarians, heard cases of alleged errors by serving ministers.
Investigators spent 15 hours looking for Dupond-Moretti’s office in the Ministry of Justice on July 1 for evidence, and he would be questioned Friday by the judge who would decide whether to press.
The Minister’s Maid has described it as “peaceful and determined to explain himself”.
This accusation relates to the question of being the three judges who ordered the police in 2014 to randle through the record of dozens of lawyers and judges, including Dupond-Moretti, as part of the investigation of former President Nicolas Sarkozy.
Justice accuses Dupond Moretti from the hunt for magicians.
He denied the allegations, saying he only acted on his staff’s recommendations to investigate the possibility of failure on the judge who oversees the telephone record spasms.
If Dupond-Moretti is charged with a conflict of interest by someone in the position of public authority, Macron tends to face a call from the opposition to fire him.
But his supporters said that he was the target of wizard hunting by three judges from the Financial Prosecutor’s Office, who was very angry with the administrative investigation carried out on the minister’s watch.
Two parliamentarians sitting in a law court, one of the Macron Party and the other from the Republican right wing (LR), resigned from the court to protest Dupond-Moretti’s question.
Dupond-Moretti will not be the first member of the Macron’s first team which will be prosecuted with violations.
Shortly after his election in 2017 Macron rejected Richard Ferrand’s death of his position as Minister of Territorial Cohesi after he was placed in an investigation into the claim that he liked his wife who benefited health insurance funds.
Ferrand then returned to a comeback in a more senior role as the work parliamentary speaker he maintained after being charged with conflicts of interest.
A cabinet member told AFP that he was not sure that Dupon-Moretti, was famous for his record to free his client, could survive the scandal if he was charged.
“It’s complicated, especially when you are the Minister of Justice,” he said.
Dupond-Moretti entered the listener of the Friday court weakened by Wahyu recently that he failed to declare 300,000 euros ($ 350,000) in the royalties he had obtained from the one-person show where he starred while a lawyer.
Last week he claimed to do a “mistake” in his tax form, and his maid said he had resolved the bill arising from royalties on the only theater production entitled “Eric Dupond-Moretti to the Bar”.
In front of the election, he also suffered a big setback when he stood up for the office for the first time in regional elections and the department last month, won less than 10 percent of the vote.
