New Delhi: Former Bengal Left Spinner and Head Coach Mizoram U-19 Murtaza Lodhgar died of a heart attack on Friday night in Visakhapatnam, the Association of Cricket President Bengal Avehek Dalmiya has confirmed.
Lodshar, 45, is in the port city with Mizoram Colts, who will play a role to play the league phase of the VINOO MANKAD trophy (U-19 National Dayers) because the BCCI domestic season will begin.
“The tragedy occurred after dinner,” Dalmiya told PTI.
“Murtu Bhai (because he was known in a bengal circle) along with Physio the team went out to walk after dinner and suddenly felt very big chest pain and fell on the road.” Fisio and other team members immediately took him to the hospital where he was declared dead on Friday.
“I still don’t believe that Murtu Bhai doesn’t exist anymore.
This is a personal loss for me because he is one of the pillars of the first division club Rajasthan SC.
He is one of the most loved crickets in our brotherhood and also works with our women’s team with a difference.
This is a disadvantage that cannot be repaired, “said Dalmiya.
The Bengal Cricket Association tried to make arrangements so that his family could bring mortal left to the city for burial.
The dead Cricketer family will fly to Vizag on Saturday.
Lodhgar is a house player at the Club Cricket but because of the presence of the domestic giant Utpal Chatterjee, he only played nine trophy matches where he had 34 goals.
One of the highlights of his short-class career was five goal which opposed Karnataka in the land of Ju (Salt Lake) in the 2004-05 season.
He played several other matches of the season but had never got a consistent opportunity because he was on the wrong 30s and a little portly for top cricket.
“Go to the beginning of my friend,” Tweeted the former Deep Dasgupta Bengal captain.
He is regularly in crowded club cricket scenes in England.
But good friends and sympathizers will remember it as people who always smile and humble.
