Copenhagen: Moderna Covid-19 Vaccine is up to four times more likely to cause inflammation of the heart muscle, very rare side effects, rather than the rival vaccine of Pfizer-Biontech, according to a Danish study published in the English medical journal late Thursday.
Studies, where nearly 85% Denmark, or 4.9 million individuals, aged 12 years and longer participated, investigating the relationship between Covid-19 vaccines based on MRNA and heart inflammation, also known as myocarditis or miopericarditis.

“Vaccination with MRNA-1273 (modern vaccine) is associated with an increased risk of significant myocarditis or miopericarditis in the Danish population,” the research said.
However, the overall risk of getting heart inflammation of the vaccine, both of which are based on MRNA technology, low, according to research, carried out by researchers from the Staten Serum Danish Institute.
“In general, the level of myocarditis or miopericarditis is about tripled to four times the vaccination of MRNA-1273 (modern) than it is for vaccination BNT162B2 (pfizer-bionech),” said this research.
The researchers only found 1 case per 71,400 vaccinated with Pfizer-Bontech and 1 Case per 23,800 vaccinated with modern.
Most of the cases are light, the research said.
The Pfizer-Biontonech vaccine is only related to the risk of higher heart inflammation among women, the study said, contrast with the results of research from Israel and the United States.
The authors say these differences can be explained by the average age of vaccinated populations, the time span between the first and second shots or because fewer Danes has been tested positively Covid-19.
“Our findings generally do not shade many benefits that come by vaccinated,” said HVIID study writer in a statement.
“One must remember that the alternative to getting infection with Covid-19 might also involve the risk of inflammation in the heart muscle,” HVIID said.
