New Delhi: India and the UK will jointly launch the Green Grids-One Sun One World One Grid (GGI-Osowog) initiative to transport solar power to various countries – during the world leader summit at the beginning of the 26th session from The UN Climate Change Conference (COP26) in Glasgow, England in the first week of November.
This initiative, announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi three years ago, will be supported in the form of a political declaration at the fourth General Assembly of the International Solar Alliance (ISA) for October 18-21.
The source said Modi would attend the world leader Summit on 1-2 November at COP26 and launched it with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson in the presence of the head of state / other government.
Official confirmation for this effect will be submitted to the UK, they added.
US President Joe Biden, Australian PM Scott Morrison and other leaders will also attend the Summit during the first half of COP26 who will see the countries complete the rules of the carbon market mechanism (Article 6) under the Paris agreement.
Rules of Article 6 are the last part of the agreement that has not been resolved.
The implementation of Osowog will revolve around the concept that ‘Sun has never set’ and, therefore, constant in some geographical locations, globally, at a certain point of time.
ISA, which is generally launched by India and France on the sideway of COP21 in Paris in 2015, will be the Global Grid Appeal.
The fourth General Assembly next week will be an opportunity where other countries from the intergovernmental body see how to go about Osowog in a way that can help the world achieve its collective mitigation objectives to limit global warming at 1.5 degrees C in 2050 from Pre-industrial level (1850-1900).
The Assembly will be intentional to the ISA strategic plan for the next five years.
This will include various problems including strategies for private sector involvement.
In addition to updates on the ‘One Sun One World One Grid’ initiative, the trillion dollar roadmap solar investment for 2030 ‘will also be the focus of the ISA meeting.
According to the note of the ISA concept in Osowog, Global Solar Grid will be implemented in three phases.
In the first phase, ‘Indian Grid’ will connect with West Asian Grids, South Asia, and Southeast Asia to share solar and other power resources to meet electricity needs including during peak demand.
This will then be connected with each other with a collection of African power in the second phase.
The third phase will include global connections from the power transmission grid to achieve osowog vision.
